The IRS has provided filing relief to those affected by Hurricane Helene. Individuals and businesses in the entire states of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and parts of Florida, Tennessee and Virginia will qualify.
The relief is in the form of an extension of time to file and/or pay until May 1, 2025 for the following:
- 2023 Individual, business and tax exempt organizations tax returns that are currently under a valid extension
- 2024 Quarterly estimated tax payments usually due January 15, 2025
- 2024 Individual and Business tax returns usually due March 15, 2025 and April 15, 2025
- 2025 Quarterly estimated tax payments usually due April 15, 2025
- Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns normally due on October 31, 2024, January 31, 2025 and April 30, 2025.
- Some penalty relief to businesses that make payroll and excise tax deposits but those periods vary by state.
